We are looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst who has experience organizing and analyzing data for service improvement and organizational decision-making, and an interest in applying their skills to our mission of making accessible the record of human knowledge. You will fill a new role to become our first business intelligence analyst, working collaboratively to develop an assessment program that will position HathiTrust to monitor and evaluate our performance and impact, demonstrate our value, and use assessment to drive decision-making for future work.

You will report to the Business Process Consultant Lead who leads a new team focused on business process and business intelligence, and, along with your team, you will help bring about organizational change and support HathiTrust’s Strategic Vision.. Your contributions in this role are also essential to meeting the goals of HathiTrust’s Building Resilience for Access and Preservation grant, a multi-year effort to strengthen our preservation and access mission.

On-site, hybrid, and remote options are available for this position. We are administratively based in the University of Michigan Library in Ann Arbor and our staff are employees of the University. The salary range is $85,000.00 – $104,000.00

What You’ll Do

  • Develop a thorough understanding of HathiTrust’s data ecosystem, including learning about current tools used and collaborating with HathiTrust staff and members to understand their data needs, and infuse that understanding into your work.
  • Guide the identification, organization, and analysis of service-specific metrics for monitoring and evaluation.
  • Develop a robust and integrated assessment program to be implemented on a continuous basis, pulling service-specific metrics together into an organizational context to evaluate impact, demonstrate our value, drive decision making, and tell our story.
  • Identify, implement, and manage processes and tools for data collection, reporting, and analysis of key metrics.
  • Guide the development and implementation of data policies, such as data privacy and retention policies, in partnership with the Enterprise Architect and other Team Leads.
  • Lead projects related to data collection and analysis, and support projects led by others as needed.
  • Understand diverse perspectives and promote the use of best practices to foster an inclusive climate that encourages and affirms all individuals.

Skills You Have

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with the following:
    • Analytical programs/projects focused on outcomes/impact assessment, service improvement, and/or business intelligence.
    • Analyzing large data sets, i.e. data sets with millions of data points, in environments such as R, Python, and SAS/SPSS.
    • Query design, report writing, and data visualization, using tools such as Tableau and Power BI, etc.
    • Knowledge of database structures and data architecture relevant to the development of dynamic reporting, including experience with SQL.
  • Experience implementing new practices to bring about positive organizational change, and report complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
