In the Northern Hemisphere, we are on the brink of spring, which means gardens and picnics! But don’t be fooled — this is no egg salad sandwich amid blooming tulips. Options abound in 555 Ways to Make a Sandwich including the Popcorn, Cannibal, and Automobile varieties. An Adventure recounts the true-life tale of a supernatural visit by two women to the Versailles gardens, an account which came under heavy scrutiny in its day — not only for those skeptical of their ghost sightings, but also of the women’s likely romantic relationship.
We also feature a recommendation from HathiTrust’s User Research and Digital Services Librarian, Ange Zaytsev, who has created an entire collection of magnificently illustrated books from celebrated 20th-century children’s book author, Walter Crane. And finally, we recognize National Poetry Month, created in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets, with a poetry collection by Georgia Davis Brown, one of the few women of the Harlem Renaissance.
