Why did your organization join HathiTrust?
The Mary and Jeff Bell Library at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi joined HathiTrust to enhance access to a wealth of digital resources that support the diverse academic needs of our students, faculty, and researchers. HathiTrust’s commitment to preserving and sharing knowledge aligns with our mission to foster academic excellence and lifelong learning. Through this partnership, we can provide broader access to research materials, including rare and out-of-print works. As new members, we appreciate the opportunity to expand the reach of our library collections by connecting our users to a shared global repository of knowledge.
What’s a fun fact about your library or describe a unique item in your collection.
A fun fact about the Mary and Jeff Bell Library at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is its breathtaking location—right by the Gulf of Mexico! This unique setting offers visitors not just academic enrichment but also stunning views that inspire learning and creativity. One of the unique items in our collection is the university’s rich archive of materials documenting the history and culture of South Texas and the Coastal Bend region. These include rare photographs, manuscripts, and other historical documents that provide invaluable insights into the area’s development, making it a treasure trove for researchers and history enthusiasts alike.

As a community, academic libraries could address the need for greater collaboration across institutions to improve sustainable access to information resources. This could include expanding open access initiatives and creating more opportunities for libraries to work together on projects that bridge gaps in information access.
