Now Open: Nominations for Program Steering and New Member Welcome Committees

Program Steering Committee (PSC)

Number of Seats: 5 Term Length: July 2025-June 2028

The Program Steering Committee reviews HathiTrust’s development agenda, shaping initiatives and strategies for Board discussion and decision-making and considering the implications of those initiatives for the future. The Committee may charge working groups to address programs and initiatives, and PSC members may also take part in these working groups as liaisons to assist them in accomplishing their tasks. PSC will participate in operationalizing the Strategic Vision.

Expected Contributions:

  • Attend regular meetings (generally meeting every two weeks on Thursday at 1 pm EST)
  • Offer expert advice and guidance on key HathiTrust programmatic, policy, and/or strategic issues
  • Periodically participate in other governance-related or appointed groups; may serve as liaison to one of PSC’s working groups, task forces, or other HathiTrust Advisory Committees

General Qualifications: Appointees are typically experienced in senior leadership at their member library. Experience with initiatives involving metadata, collections, discovery, information technology, scholarly communication, and/or user experience. Experience that would help advance the Strategic Vision. See the complete PSC selection criteria and overview.

New Member Welcome Committee

Number of Seats: 5 Term Length:  July 2025-June 2027

The HathiTrust New Member Welcome Committee is a new standing committee of library staff from current member institutions, charged with connecting with Member Representatives and Primary Contacts at newly joined HathiTrust member institutions. The purpose of the committee is to provide information and advice on how to use and promote HathiTrust member services. The committee will also be responsible for advising the Member Relations Specialist on what materials and actions would be helpful to achieve the group’s objective.

Expected Contributions:

  • Attend a virtual kickoff meeting at the start of the term
  • Advise Member Relations Specialist on materials or processes to facilitate a productive orientation for new members via asynchronous methods
  • At least one committee member will be asked attend each new member orientation hosted by Member Relations Specialist (1-2 meetings per year)
  • Serve as a resource for new members. May include additional meetings and/or email exchanges with Member Representatives  and Primary Contacts

General Qualifications: General knowledge of HathiTrust programs and services and how institutions are participating. The committee’s membership may include designated Member Representatives, Primary Contacts, AULs or department heads.

How to Submit Nominations

Nominations for both committees may be submitted by Library Directors, Member Representatives, Primary Contacts or through self-nominations. Please complete the nomination form by Tuesday, April 8, 2025. HathiTrust will contact PSC nominees to request they submit a statement of interest(250 words or less). Beyond the consideration of these criteria, HathiTrust seeks to make appointments that maximize the diversity of perspectives represented by the PSC and New Member Welcome Committee. The ability of nominees to contribute a non-dominant cultural perspective is especially valued.
