Metadata Strategy Statement

To improve our services, HathiTrust will transition into an organization that actively manages and shares bibliographic metadata entrusted to our care. While member-contributed metadata will continue to underpin our services, HathiTrust will deepen our investment in the metadata that we collect. This will allow us to remain good stewards of our preserved collections and continue to advance our mission of contributing to research, scholarship and the common good by collaboratively collecting, organizing, preserving, communicating and sharing the record of human knowledge. By more actively managing the metadata entrusted to us, we will better support and improve discovery and access for our members and users worldwide.
